Centennial Hall Update

UPDATE REGARDING CENTENNIAL HALL

The Village of Floral Park is taking the next step in its process of determining the best future use for Centennial Hall.  This week, in conjunction with CBRE, Inc., the Village issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for commercial, retail or mixed use (a combination of commercial/ retail and residential) development proposals for Centennial Hall in a manner complementary to the neighboring community.  At the same time, the Village wishes to receive input from its residents as to possible future public uses for the building.

The issuance of the RFP is an important step in the Village’s process of determining the future of Centennial Hall.  The process began in 2015 with the Village’s internal review of alternatives for Centennial Hall (such as partial renovation, complete renovation or demolition) and the costs associated with these alternatives.  The Village then held a Public Visioning Session in September 2015 to discuss these alternatives and to hear the opinions of residents.  This was followed by issuing an RFP for Real Estate Brokers to advise and assist the Village in the process of developing commercial proposals for the property. After interviewing several real estate firms that responded to that RFP, the Village selected CBRE, Inc., the world’s largest real estate and investment firm. Another Public Visioning Session was held with CBRE in May, 2016 and it focused on CBRE’s analysis of the possible uses that the building might attract.

Currently, the Village is issuing an RFP for proposals for commercial, retail, or mixed use development of the property in either a sale or long term lease transaction. The RFP document makes clear that the Village retains the right to reject all proposals as the Village is also considering retaining ownership of the building for a possible future public use. A copy of the Request for Proposal Document is available for review by clicking here and the accompanying Offering Memorandum is available for review by clicking here.

As this process continues, the Village would like to continue to hear recommendations from residents in regards to the development of the Centennial Hall property in order to select the option best suited for the Village.  If you would like your voice to be heard, please send all thoughts and suggestions on the development of Centennial Hall to centennialhall@fpvillage.org.  Once all viable options are identified, a future Public Visioning Session will be held with CBRE.
