As the 2020 Pool season progresses, we continue to closely analyze the attendance data to determine whether we are able to safely add back popular pool programs and features. So far, we have been able to slowly phase in several popular programs.
This week our popular All-Day Camp program started for Pool members. All available spots (at 50% capacity) were filled quickly for all of the scheduled weeks.
We also phased in our water aerobics classes this week. These water aerobics classes are being offered at no costs to Pool members on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 9 a.m. In addition, beginning this Sunday, July 19th, the My Tot and Me program will start again at 9 a.m. each Sunday until August 9th.
Since we have been monitoring attendance rates over the last several weeks, we have observed that even when we have had 500 reservations for a swim session, there has been available capacity at each pool session to allow pool members to come to the pool for a session, even when the pool members did not have a prior reservation. This occurs because not everyone with a reservation arrives at the same time over the 5 1/2-hour period, nor do they usually stay for the whole 5 1/2 hours if they arrive early in the session.
Even after adding these additional pool programs and implementing changes in how we regulate attendance, the attendance numbers reflect that we still have available capacity. This gives us the ability to phase in other popular pool features from prior years, albeit in a more restricted format to ensure we stay within our capacity goals to facilitate social distancing.
As an example, in prior years, we have had several “Resident Days” over the course of the pool season in which village residents who were not pool members were able to enjoy the pool on certain days for a separate daily fee. This season, with the capacity restrictions we are subject to, we cannot have Resident Days as in the past. However, we will be able to offer “resident sessions” in which village residents who are not pool members can come to the pool and, if there is available capacity on that day, they can be admitted for that session for a separate fee. Resident “non-pool” members will not be able to make reservations, as pool members can, for that session, but can be admitted for that session if capacity allows after pool members have made reservations. We believe there will be capacity because we are selecting these dates and times after a thoughtful and close study of attendance patterns to date.
So, If you are a village resident who is not a pool member, and you want to come during a designated residents session, you will need either a Village Leisure pass or a government issued photo ID reflecting a Village of Floral Park address. The fee for resident “non-pool” members is $15.00 for adults and $10.00 for children for that session. Please note that there are two sessions per day – – an a.m. session from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and a p.m. session from 3:30 p.m. to 9:00 pm.
Our first Resident Day session will be offered on Friday, July 17th for the a.m. session and on Saturday, July 18th for the p.m. session. Please remember that this pool season seating is not being provided . So if you wish to come, bring your own chair or towel on which to sit. Capacity levels permitting, we hope to be able to offer other resident sessions in the future.
