I am pleased to announce that the Village of Floral Park has signed a contract to sell Centennial Hall to the Friedman Group for $1.2 million. Under the terms of the contract, the property will be developed as 16 to 18 one and two bedroom apartment units. The terms also include a 30-year deed restriction limiting future development of the property to residential use.
The signing of the contract is the culmination of four Public Visioning Sessions held by the Village Board, held between September 2015 and April 2018, to consider the future of Centennial Hall and, most recently, a Special Meeting of the Village Board held on June 28, 2018 to consider and authorize the execution of the contract with the Friedman Group. The concerns and issues raised by residents during these sessions formed the basis for the decision of the Board. Taking into account the many and varied ideas and concerns was of paramount importance. The Village will, during this process, continue to look at issues of parking and traffic to ensure the best scenario available for all of our residents.
The next phase of this process will involve the Friedman Group seeking the necessary reviews and approvals of the Village’s Zoning Board of Appeals and Architectural Review Board. Pursuant to the terms of the contract, the architectural restoration and renovation of the building façade shall be in conformity with the architectural renderings presented by the Friedman Group to the public at the fourth Public Visioning Session, which was held on April 12, 2018. The renderings can be viewed at the Village’s website www.fpvillage.org .
