LIRR Notification: Tree Removal and Full Road Closure on Atlantic Avenue This Weekend

The Village received the below notification from the MTA/LIRR regarding tree removal and road closure of Atlantic Avenue this weekend

This weekend, we will be removing 7 trees along Atlantic Avenue between Rose and Childs Avenues. The removal is part of the preparation for an essential project at Floral Park, just west of the station, where we’ll be constructing a new retaining wall and installing a signal hut.

This wall will help prevent erosion and ensure the stability of the embankment, keeping our train tracks level and safe, especially in areas that are prone to shifting soils or weather conditions. Ultimately, this work will prevent the risk of tracks collapsing or moving, and it will also provide added protection for the surrounding area by stabilizing the embankment and reducing the risk of soil or debris sliding.

The tree removal will take place on Saturday, February 1st, between 7AM and 3PM. During this time, Atlantic Avenue will be fully closed from Carnation Avenue to Rose Avenue. We know road closures can be inconvenient, and we appreciate your patience and understanding as we complete this important work!
