Educating our children and serving our community are the common goals of the evolving structure of our school districts. Elementary education is provided by the Floral Park-Bellerose School District, while Junior and Senior High School students are served by the Sewanhaka Central High School District. In addition, our community has two parochial schools for children from pre-­kindergarten through eighth grade.

Junior and senior high school students of the Village are served by both Sewanhaka High School, built and opened in 1930, and Floral Park Memorial High School, constructed in 1957. These schools offer a wide variety of academic programs as well as excellent trade and technical programs. Course information may be obtained through the schools or by contacting the District’s Administrative Office.

Pre-K through sixth grade students attend either the Floral Park-Bellerose School or the John Lewis Childs School. To enter the pre-K program, a child must be four years of age on or before December 1st. Likewise, kindergarten entrants must be five years of age on or before December 1st in order to attend. Pre-K programs meet three days a week on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Kindergarten classes are either mornings or afternoons, five days a week. First through sixth grades meet Monday through Friday, 8:45 am through 3:45 pm. Bus service may be provided to children attending kindergarten through sixth grade depending on residency guidelines established by the Board of Education as directed by the State Department of Education.
