Hello Friends and Neighbors,
Thank you, Floral Park! After a uniquely amazing Memorial Day parade, patriotic salute to our veterans, and special moments to greet you all, we now look forward to another spring tradition in our Village.
All of us in Floral Park are proud of our very own natural treasure, Centennial Gardens, a passive use community park. This nature preserve and bird sanctuary includes beautiful garden areas and walking paths enjoyed by adults, teens and children of all ages. Within the natural surroundings, we encounter overlooks, walking bridges, rose gardens, children’s gardens, giving gardens, hummingbird gardens, and numerous pleasant and peaceful places to walk or just admire nature. The Floral Park Conservation Society (FPCS), a longstanding and dedicated group of volunteers, works throughout the seasons to beautify and maintain our wonderful Gardens and bird sanctuary.
We look forward to welcoming you and your family to Centennial Gardens after it reopens on Wednesday, May 27th from noon to 5pm. To promote good health and safety, every visitor will be asked to practice social distancing at all times. Please remember that the Gardens is a nature preserve and not a recreational park or picnic area. Centennial Gardens is a place where we have always shown our appreciation and respect for nature, the trees, plants, flowers and wildlife that call the Gardens home, as well as our fellow visitors.
In addition, it is essential that the current COVID-19 health guidelines and precautions are observed. All must wear face masks when entering the gate at the entrance on Floral Parkway. For the time being, proof of residency in the Village of Floral Park will be required (i.e., a VFP leisure pass, 2019 or 2020 pool pass, or a government-issued ID with address). As is customary at the Gardens, games, athletic equipment, picnic baskets, coolers, umbrellas, lawn furniture, bikes, scooters and skateboards are not permitted. Unfortunately, at this time, we will not be able to provide bathroom facilities.
s of this date, we are awaiting the reopening of New York’s recreational parks and playgrounds. Sports games, organized sports and swimming entail social gathering in ways that are not yet deemed completely healthy and safe. Likewise, social gatherings for other occasions (parties, picnics, birthdays, weddings, professional photo opportunities, etc.) are also not advisable, so we cannot accommodate group celebrations in the Gardens. Please refer to the latest Centennial Gardens Rules and Regulations before your visit. Rules & Regulations
We hope that our Floral Park families will use this opportunity to take in the beauty of nature at Centennial Gardens, appreciate all that it has to offer, and consider supporting the Gardens by becoming FPCS volunteers.
Enjoy springtime in our beautiful Floral Park!
