The reconstruction of Floral Boulevard is moving along as planned. On Tuesday, May 18th, our contractor, Roadwork Ahead, is scheduled to begin the paving preparation phase. This involves milling of the old roadway and preparing a base. The final phase will be the application of a new top coat of new asphalt on the roadway. Weather permitting, we anticipate that Roadwork Ahead will complete construction by Memorial Day weekend. Please take note of the following points while work is underway:
- When possible, please avoid Floral Blvd for the remainder of this project.
- Expect full closures of Floral Boulevard for a few blocks at a time over the next 2 weeks. When Floral Boulevard is closed, you can use Crocus Avenue or Atlantic Avenue.
- Please do not drive, park or walk on new pavement while work is underway.
- Schools have been notified and buses have been re-routed for the rest of the school year.
- Residents of Floral Boulevard will not be ticketed for parking on the side streets in the vicinity of work zone when they are unable to park in their own driveways.

There has been substantial progress on the Floral Boulevard Reconstruction Project over the last few months. The majority of curbing, ADA ramps and apron reconstruction is nearly complete along with the upgrading of the storm drainage system. The contractor will continue to work throughout the winter to complete the drainage portion of the project, weather permitting. Since asphalt work can only take place when temperatures are consistently above a certain level, the full road reconstruction will take place closer to the Spring as the weather warms up. The road reconstruction project for Floral Boulevard is set to begin this WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 14, 2020. This start was delayed one day due to the weather.
During this initial phase, curbs and driveway aprons will be replaced. This work will start on the north side of Floral Blvd between Carnation Avenue and Childs Avenue, then proceed west towards the Floral Park Bellerose School over the next few weeks. To minimize the impact to residents, this work will proceed two blocks at a time in what is expected to be one-week intervals. All schedules may be subject to change due to the weather.
There will be no on street parking for the blocks under construction. All vehicles must be removed from the roadside before 7am each weekday morning. Vehicles may return to the roadside after 5pm, subject to Village rules and regulations.
