Many residents and village officials spoke out at the morning and evening hearings held on the LIRR’s Draft Environmental Impact Statement at the New Hyde Park Inn on January 19th. Many questioned the lack of specific information about the impacts of the project on Floral Park. Pictured above are Trustee Archie Cheng, former Mayor Ann Corbett, Bill Corbett and Tim Dalton holding a survey provided by the LIRR from the elevation of LIRR tracks back in the late 1950s. The point was made by Trustee Cheng that while that survey from before the advent of technology could delineate the specific location of work easements that would be required for that project, the LIRR has so far failed to provide the same level of detail for this project.
